Curious about our story?
You might have heard of Katydids as bush crickets. And probably not much after this fact. So how does it get to be associated with the brand name of a communication and training outfit? It’s quite a serendipitous story. Katydids are known for their distinctive songs, which they produce by rubbing their wings together. Interestingly, that’s exactly how katydids are named: the distinctive sound often described as “ka-ty-did”. Now, Katy is the first name of our principal consultant, Dr. Katy Kan, at KatydidCONNECT Pte. Ltd. So yes, we have a happy coincidence right here. But there’s more. Research has established that Katydid communicate distinctively from many other insect species. Katydids are tactile, audio-sensitive, context-specific and targeted in their purposes. Likewise, effective human communication is about understanding the nuances in social connections and using communication tools purposefully to achieve the intended purpose. So, there’s much to learn from a humble bush cricket in communication, and that’s what we aim to do: Understand the underlying needs of the audience, the specificity of the context and the purpose of the communication brief. With that, we can curate our craft iteratively to be of value in our services.
